Remedy Entertainment, theacclaimed Finnish video-game studio, has been working towardAlan Wake 2for all of its 28-year existence.

The game is a cosmic, Lynchian nightmare in the form of a slow-burn police procedural.

Slowly, she makes deductions, which push the narrative forward.

Things get freaky quickly.

But we still have to find out what happened to Wake.

Its also rich thematically and narratively: Wakes New York is a psychogeographic trap partly of his own making.

Though these characters might appear at odds with one another (Wake: narcissistic, angry, preening.

But in adhering to the comprehensible structure of narrative, they also lose sight of anything resembling objective truth.

Remedy games are often self-referential to the point of verging on self-sabotage, andAlan Wake2 is no different.
