At least, thats what it looks like.
Pally waves off the incident: No way.
I dont ever get recognized.

That happens a lot.
I sort of cultivate it, he says with a laugh.
His martini arrives, and Pally explains what he means.

That friend was Justin Theroux.
Within minutes, the outing went from chill to wild.
A crowd surrounded the group, and everybody was taking pictures of them.
Ive met Justin before, but he doesnt remember who the fuck I am, Pally recounts.
(He was.)
Its her favorite show.
It doesnt matter who you are.
You could be on the hottest show on HBO or famous on TikTok, and its basically the same.

Pally and I are meeting because a few weeks earlier, I recognized him on the street in Brooklyn.
I have no idea, he said.
Im still trying to figure it out.
Hill doesnt do any talking; he just shreds.
Pally is the main focus.
One show went well, he says, then soon after that, I remember feeling not good onstage.

His mother died in 2011 when he was 30; 20 days later, Pallys first child was born.
His career was starting to take off after he was cast onHappy Endings.
He felt like hed broken down, that hed gone as far as he could.
Pally assumed they all overdosed or had heart attacks.
No, the friend said they all choked to death.
Men dont like to tell you things, Pally says.
I heard that, and I realized that was me.
He and his wife, Daniella, had their third kid.
I dont think people get room to just have a go at figure something out, he says.
Hes sound-checking with Hill when that nights special guest, John Gemberling, shows up.
He admits that hes really nervous.
Its a small room, so everything has to hit right, or it could get awkward fast.
I ask if hes figured out what the live show hes about to do is yet.
Its an experience that cant be canceled or deleted.
