This ending was bleak when I considered what this show means to Black viewers.

As hard as it was to watch, whyshouldFranklin have a happy ending?

Hes our brother, our friend, our neighbor, our classmate.

Anyone who grew up in poverty under systemic racism knows what hes motivated by.

And what it did to our people from a different perspective.
