But its so clearly the wrong move.

It seemed like she understood that.

(When Connor appeared, I immediately said, Oh no.)

She promised Paul she wouldnt follow Louis (a.k.a.

Louis has actually wanted to speak with her, which we basically knew from his appearance at Jimmys office.

Hes not some evil or indifferent man who wants to avoid acknowledging what he did.

Hes a human being whos hurting.

Theyre the ones who lost someone here, whose lives were flipped upside down.

Psychological egoism is at play here, too, with Jimmys extreme emotional investment in getting Grace help.

The problem is that Grace doesnt believe she should be forgiven.

But Im also not sure it works as best as it should.

Not knowing hes Alices godfather, and not even knowing her approximate age?

Come on, Brian!

And then he slaps Jimmy?

(To be fair, Jimmy is very slappable.)

And so seconds later, were watching the two women drive off into the sunset in a U-Haul.

If this is Heidi Gardners exit from the show, its a sappy but decent enough ending.

Everyone inShrinkingis working on themselves, trying to become more selfless but often self-sabotaging in the process.

Thats often true of Jimmy, and its definitely true of Liz right now.

Its true that Julie really struggled watching dementia slowly erode the husband she loved.

But Parkinsons isnt the same, and besides, Paul isnt nearly at a point where hes losing himself.

Theres no need for Pauls annoying gallantry.

It must hurt Paul to admit it, but he and Liz do have a lot in common.

In this episode, theyre both offering to dissolve a partnership out of some misplaced sense of heroism.

This works better for everyone.

Helping people, whether strangers or your friends and family, neednt be a sacrifice.

A lot of f-bombs.

Well, its not to my congresswoman.

Its to the guy who killed my mom.

Are you going to visit his grave, or … ?

Not everyones spouse is dead.

My moms making me crash at home tonight.

Shes pissed because she thinks I took her Vicodin.

Which I did, but not to use it.

Just to sell it.

Im glad the episode doesnt dwell too much on Paul neglecting to ask about Gabys teaching.

He asks her later on, and all is forgiven.

Nice to seeJury Dutys Edy Modica getting more work!

Here she appears as Jackie, Gabys patient who stopped taking her postpartum medication.

I hope he doesnt get better.

I still feel like thats wildly inappropriate.

This was maybe the funniest moment of the episode for me.

But also, Jimmy, youd know a lot about inappropriate dynamics with your patients, wouldnt you?
