It was announced this week that the season finalewill be filmingApril 1 this year.
Is it an equal playing field with an uncommonly talented group of queens overall?
So yeah, the shortened episodes stink.
Ive come to terms with it, and Im excited for the extended episodes beginning March 10.
Thats how we have stakes.
Take Salina, for example.
Thats a queen whos been feeling the heat recently.
Malaysia and Marcia x3, too, have got to step it up.
Both queens have shown talent, but neither has shown the nerve to break through with something truly amazing.
Given that both are safe this week, Id imagine theyre feeling the pressure.
While other episodes tend to be more process-based, sewing challenges allow for conversations to occur naturally.
The challenge is the Crystal Ball, in celebration of the shows 200th episode.
Ru does walkthroughs this week, alongside Carson, which is always a welcome development.
Spice interprets this as meaning more fabric, which pretty much sums up the issue with Spice.
Shes not a particularly creative queen, and she doesnt have the performing skills to make up for it.
Mistress uses the Ru walkthrough to show, once again, why shes a frontrunner.
Everything can be a performance to Mistress.
And thats exactly what happens.
needling Loosey about her annoyance at not ending up in the top for the acting challenge.
In this interaction, I found her charming and willing to take the girls shit.
During the makeup portion, the queens recount their favorite moments fromDrag Raceseasons past.
Of course Spice loves Rebecca Glasscock.

The first category is a salute to Rus racer fit that appears in the opening of each episode.
My favorites are Deltas Pick me!
and Madame LaQueers Ewwwww.
Marcia x3 is cute, but her frill could go.
Salinas is the furthest from the original, but its her best look of the night.
Loosey is also pretty far (for my taste) from the reference.
Sasha is streamlined and stunning.
Anetras bright green is also very far from the Ru version, but she looks absolutely stunning.
Her thong is hot and fierce.
The next category is to bring a version of a previous ball.
Salina and Loosey do the worst.
Anetra is also not great, in a look reminiscent of her tie-dye challenge look.
The judges liked it then (which was insane), but they dont like it now.
Sashas weed-based Bag Ball look is a stunner.
Mistress uses one of those fabrics.
Spice doesnt even manage to include more fabric.
Same look is same.
Marcia looks adorable, if not necessarily stunning, in her look.
She needs to work on delivering something jaw-dropping, she hasnt managed that on the runway yet.
Salina, bless her heart, is wrinkly and baggy and again wears hair that is too flat.
Sasha represents her home of Hawaii with a look that makes her look like a coral goddess.
Its great, but shes not my favorite on the runway.
The crystalized spine adds a glamorous edge, and the skirt looks professionally finished.
Anetra, for what its worth, really comes into her own this week.
Anetras star is rising.
But can it catch up with Sasha Colbys?
Im not so sure of that.
With Sasha, they love everything.
Its a good time for Sasha to be getting some vulnerability.
They all have more than a little catching up to do.
The lip sync is between Salina and Spice to Lil Nas Xs Thats What I Want.
Spice gives what she always gives.
She goes home, it was time.

Shes a confident, stunning queen, but she hasnt shown much depth yet.
Im not as sure as I once was.
But its the photobombing one.
I still dont have a handle on Rus dynamic with Sasha other than mutual respect.
