We are recirculating it now timed toSaltburns streaming debut on Prime Video.

Also, a warning: this post spoils pretty much everything about the movie.

Much like the elite spheres of English academia, Vulture is riven with an internal divide.

Pray tell me, what do you see here that Im missing?

Emily Palmer Heller:I dont disagree that its a supremely cynical film.

Its mean and nasty and obnoxious.

That didnt turn me off, though!

So lets talk about the ending ofSaltburn.

I think it was a mess but an entertaining mess.

Did you really not enjoy Barry Keoghan dancing naked around a decaying old manor?

NJ:Amazingly, I did not.

But I respected that at least it was also a little risky.

The naked dance scene, however?

It felt like the movie was elbowing me, going, Whoa, can you believe Im doingthis?

With apologies to Barry Keoghans admittedly ripped bod, this one wasnt.

But in a good way!

NJ:Great vibes, beautiful vibes.

The Cattons are seen watching an August 2007 release (Superbad)on television, for example.

That felt lazy, which is a kiss of death when youre also trying to be daring.

Still, on the subject of positives, everythinglooksfantastic.

If the movie was a coffee-table book, Id love it.

But I think thats why I thinkSaltburnultimately feels confused.

She loves their clothes, she loves their houses, she even loves their diffidence.

By the end, theyre the only sympathetic characters.

Which is fine a lot of people in Britain secretly feel that way.

I just wish she wasntfated to pretend.
