You know nothings gonna stop them.

Jason, what was your initial reaction to the song?
Its not that I wanted WAP Pt.
Cardi hasnt released a solo track since 2021s Up, but its not like shes been quiet.
What even the mainstream wants from her is great rap tracks.
But Bongos just isnt hitting.
It feels like theres very little idea behind this song.
Its telling that the best line of the song is Megans My backshots sound like bongos.
Its a punch line that references the beat.
Zoe, beyond just the vibes, what stuck out to you about this track?
ZH: Thank you for the platform, Jason.
Let me start with the Caribbean influences.
Compared to the constant stream of trap releases, the dembow is as refreshing as la playa.
Its infectious more of a rhythm that gets stuck in your bones than in your brain.
So, we know its going platinum in a certain population of Brooklyn.
But what about on the internet?
Do you think it missed the mark for the stans on Twitter and TikTok?
JPF:I dont see this song going platinum on Twitter or TikTok, I have to admit.
Is that a bad thing?
Id like to be able to say that its not.
On principle, Im against artists needing to write for peak social-media appeal they are artists not content creators.
Bongos has all of that, but it doesnt achieve its full potential.
These are exactly the verses I knew they could deliver.
But were leaving out the visuals here Zoe, what did you think of the music video?
Was it as exciting and stimulating as their previous work?
ZH:Once you tear your eyes away from the peacock tattoo lining Cardis thigh … yes!
The choreography is reminiscent of their Grammys performance without going so far as to offend the FCC.
And they usedThe Godfatherhouse, now undeniably reclaimed asTheGodmotherhouse.
