The Tragedy of the Commons doesnt waste any time getting to the bad behavior.

Why?Fargodoesnt answer that question here, and its unclear if it ever will.

But it does provide an introduction to one of the scenes main characters amid a dangerous situation.

That includes, though she doesnt realize this until its too late, a cop.

AsFargotells us, once again, were about to see a true story.

(Were not.)

Specifically, it references Marge Gundersons Its a beautiful day speech.

Direct quotes, or near-direct quotes, like this invite eye rolls.

Its not Moorjani and Temples fault.

Happily, the episode is soon back on solid footing.

Its Halloween season outside.

But inside the Lyon home, its Christmastime.

Waynes mother, Lorraine (Jennifer Jason Leigh), has gathered them to take a Christmas-card photo.

How progressive, Lorraine says, which is not intended as a compliment.

For the photos, she hands everyone, Scotty included, an automatic rifle.

Expecting a ransom request, they determine its best to keep the matter quiet.

Thats not too easy.

One of the officers wont figure too prominently in the story, going out in a hail of bullets.

The events that follow confirm Dots resourcefulness.

Cut loose from her zip tie by Witt, she immediately starts checking the station for vulnerable points.

Dot doesnt have good answers.

I know you think Im this kinda perfect woman … wife … mother, she tells him.

But, you know, even Ive got a breaking point.

With that, another season commences.

Its an intriguing one so far, one that raises a bunch of questions.

is chief among them, followed by What does she mean when she says Its not my first getaway?

But theres a lot we dont know.

Where, for instance, does the Lyons money come from?

Deputy Indiras last name is Olmstead, which was also Marge Gundersons maiden name in the film.

Even if theres no real connection there, how does this season fit intoFargomore broadly?

Answers are presumably coming, but not soon.

Okay Then!

Were trying to raise money to expand thrillers and mysteries.

Bosticks dry delivery of the line I need my brain is probably this episodes funniest moment.

Its hard not to read some significance into the moment in which this story is set.

It should be interesting to see what the season does with this.

Unless the story steers in a different direction, I will likely do the same in future recaps.
