Theres something fundamental where Id like to honor the books, she admits.
A recurring word to describe female characters this season iscleverand whether they possess that quality as a personality trait.
Would you say Violet falls within the scope of clever characters?I certainly think shes erudite and wise.
She knows her children far better than they know themselves.
She understands how to steer them when she has an inkling of where theyd like to be.
If you want to say thats clever, then she is.
She was wise back then.
A lot of actors love backstories, but I dont ever seek them out.
There was a silent understanding.
It was best to leave things as they were.
Violet had a difficult relationship with her mother, and her father was everything to her.
Shes willing to forgive and set it aside.
I love doing scenes with Adjoa.
Every time, theres something slightly more revealed about their relationship and friendship.
Violet knows the things that matter to her.
I dont think the scene was about forgiveness but rather an understanding.
These are two women who understand grief.
Im firmly a believer that friendships are just as worthy of a love story descriptor as romance is.Absolutely.
Violet tends to be slightly petulant with her, but then they make up.
Thats friendship for you.
Sometimes it’s possible for you to forgive a friend far easier than your family.
It might be a no from me.
Thats kind of strange, now that youve put it like that.
It was a very different time, I guess.
I dont know the reason why the bee was chosen.
It got me thinking about Violets dreams and how theyve changed as she moved from wife to widow.
Violet has thrown herself into her children and survived quite well.
But now shes dipping her toe into the water of embracing life again.
I can see her pursuing the idea of companionship she knows what shes missed the last few years.
But I dont think any man will come between her and her children or her friendships.
And all of them have traits of Violet within them, just like they have traits of their father.
Theyre a myriad of those two people.
It can be slow and quiet.
It can be gentle.
I think that will suit Violet going forward because shes already had the greatest love of her life.
She wouldnt trust a relationship if it was the same.
With the Bridgerton children, weve seen love stories ranging fromdramatic and passionatetoquiet and timid.
Theres a conversation in a later book where Violet says as much.
She overhears them and finds it amusing.
I dont think shes after a husband at all.
She wants to feel alive again and Lord Marcus is lovely for that.
Its like a meeting of the minds.
Theres a scene between the two where they talk about their children and their spouses passing.
Its a recognition between two people of the need to not feel alone anymore.
Where it goes from there I cant say because I have no control over it.
Im curious what the ton will make of it.
Will they even care?
I havent asked the writers why theyve chosen this new story for Violet.
Ive told them things that have resonated with me from the books, but thats all I can do.
And I dont think anyone would be interested in my ass, and thats fine.
